Surfs up!
Mat had a semi-hollow build in mind for a while, but he wanted to use a solid softwood top, and a full carved back as opposed to laminates. His first experiment with solid color. He describes this as a Danelectro meets Harmony Rocket, with a Mojo Pickups DualFoil to round off the retro vibe. He is going to be keeping this instrument as a demo instrument, so if you'd like to get your surf on in February, drop me a message
This is the rear view , you can see the arched back and the neck join which is a fantastic piece of work.
Cutaway view of the neck joint. Mat tends to experiment on one project every year, because he has come to learn that you’re only limited by your imagination when it comes to loothing. His rational was having some sort of mortise joint combined with a bolt on. If you believe your ES style guitar needs a mortise or dovetail joint for sustain, this is his answer to a bolt on alternative. This whole guitar vibrates when played, and it has a massive acoustic sound for an electric.
